Uganda’s sensational dance troupe, The Triplets Ghetto Kids, are headed for the grandest stage in world football after receiving a personal invitation from pop royalty Shakira to perform at the 2026 FIFA World Cup finale.

The incredible milestone was confirmed on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, when the Colombian superstar took to Instagram to reveal her first official dancer selections for her highly anticipated halftime set.

Shakira, who is co-headlining the tournament’s first-ever official final halftime show on July 19 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, extended the invitation directly to the talented youngsters.

The global music icon had been left captivated by a video of the group delivering a breathtaking, high-energy routine to “Däi Däi”—the official World Cup anthem which features Shakira, Afrobeats giant Burna Boy, and pop maestro Ed Sheeran.

In a video statement addressing her millions of followers, Shakira announced her decision to share the spotlight with the viral internet sensations.

“I’ve decided to invite as many of you as I can to dance with me… So I’ve already invited the Ghetto Kids from Uganda, but I really, really would like to see all of your creations and your videos,” the Waka Waka star revealed.

Responding to the monumental news, Ghetto Kids manager Dauda Kavuma expressed the immense pride felt by the entire camp and the continent at large.

Confirming the invitation, Kavuma revealed that the group had proactively sent a clip of their choreography to Shakira’s team, hoping for a shot at the big stage.

“We recorded a video and sent it to her with a request that we perform with her at the World Cup final. We are grateful that she accepted our request,” Kavuma stated on Wednesday, proudly labelling the achievement a “dream come true for Uganda and Africa.”

The group will back the singers during the showcase, marking an incredible full-circle moment for the young dancers who previously took the UK by storm on Britain’s Got Talent in 2023.

The spectacular halftime show, curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and produced by Global Citizen, will see the Ghetto Kids share the stage with an extraordinary bill that includes Madonna and K-pop icons BTS.

Beyond the high-octane choreography and stadium glamour, the performance carries an important charitable angle.

Shakira has officially announced that 100 per cent of her royalties from the official anthem “Däi Däi” will be donated to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.

The initiative aims to raise $100 million to expand access to quality education and football programmes for children living in underserved communities globally.
