Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has ordered the arrest of Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda Managing Director Susan Nsibirwa, hours after security agencies shut down the media company’s major broadcast platforms, including NTV Uganda, Spark TV, and reportedly disrupted operations at the Daily Monitor.

The directive was announced through a series of posts published on Gen. Muhoozi’s official X account on Sunday.

He wrote: “I hear there is a small girl called ‘Sue….’. We are looking for her. We will discipline her. She cannot cause chaos in our country.”

In subsequent posts, he posted: “Sue Nsibirwa…I’m looking for her.”

He later added; “All police patrols are instructed to arrest her on sight!” Gen. Muhoozi wrote, referring to Ms. Nsibirwa.

The latest development follows an overnight security operation at Nation Media Group Uganda’s offices in Namuwongo and Kampala Serena Hotel, where armed security personnel were deployed. Employees reported being unable to enter or leave the premises as the operation unfolded.

The security deployment culminated in NTV Uganda and Spark TV going off air during the early hours of Sunday. Several radio stations operated by the media group, including 93.3 KFM and 90.4 Dembe FM, also appeared to cease broadcasting.

Gen. Muhoozi had earlier announced that NTV Uganda and the Daily Monitor would be shut down, stating that the outlets would not resume operations without his explicit permission.

He said the action followed what he described as persistent misreporting by the media house and accused it of causing instability.

As of publication, Nation Media Group Uganda had not issued an official statement responding to the arrest directive or the continued security deployment at its premises.

Similarly, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), and the Uganda Police Force had not released formal statements explaining the basis for the shutdown of the broadcaster or the reported directive to arrest the company’s managing director.

The situation remains fluid, and this story will be updated as more information becomes available.
