Heart Breaking! Gen Muhoozi Breaks Silence On Moses Matovu’s Death, Suspect Netted!

Security forces have arrested a prime suspect in connection with the murder of legendary Afrigo Band musician Moses Matovu, hours after the killing sent shockwaves through Uganda’s music industry.

The suspect has been identified by police as Nsamba Vincent, 41, who was arrested in Ochange Ward, Yesu Amala, Nansana Division, Wakiso District, following investigations into the circumstances surrounding Matovu’s death.

The arrest was confirmed by Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, who said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the musician’s murder and identify all those responsible.

Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba also confirmed the arrest, commending security agencies for what he described as a swift response.

“I want to thank all security forces, working under the inter-agency security architecture, for quickly apprehending the prime suspect in the murder of legendary musician Moses Matovu,” Muhoozi said.

He identified the suspect as Nsamba Arnold, also known as Sitenda, and said the suspect was in custody and would face the law.

“He will face the law and justice will be served,” Muhoozi added.

The apparent difference in the names released by police and Muhoozi will require clarification as investigations continue.

Matovu, a celebrated member of Afrigo Band, was killed on Thursday, September 24, 2026, in an incident at Kibuli Depot in Makindye Division, Kampala District.

His death has triggered widespread mourning among musicians, fans and other stakeholders in Uganda’s entertainment industry, with tributes pouring in for one of the country’s most celebrated musical figures.

Police have not yet disclosed the suspected motive for the killing or the specific circumstances leading to the arrest, saying investigations are still underway.

Authorities are expected to continue interrogating the suspect and gathering evidence as they work to establish what happened and whether other individuals were involved.

Police have urged the public to remain calm and allow investigators to complete their work as the case proceeds through the criminal justice system.
