Nation Media Group Uganda (NMG-U) has announced that its operations have been significantly disrupted following what it described as an overnight military raid on its premises in Kampala.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the media house said its offices located on Plot 29/35, 8th Street, Industrial Area, Namuwongo, as well as those at the Kampala Serena International Conference Centre, were rendered inaccessible after the operation.

According to the statement, the raid took place at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, and resulted in the disconnection of electricity, disrupting the company’s normal broadcasting and publishing operations across its radio, television, and newspaper platforms.

“As a result of the incident, our physical premises have become inaccessible,” the company said, adding that the interruption had affected the delivery of services through some of its traditional media outlets.

Despite the disruption, Nation Media Group Uganda assured its audiences that it remains committed to keeping the public informed through its digital platforms while its offices remain closed.

“While our offices are closed, we will continue to keep you engaged and informed through our digital platforms,” the statement noted.

The company also thanked its readers, viewers, listeners, advertisers, and other stakeholders for their continued support and trust during the ongoing situation.

“We thank you for your continued support and trust, and we promise to provide updates as the situation develops,” the statement concluded.

The circumstances surrounding the reported military operation, including the reasons for the raid and how long the disruption is expected to last, had not been publicly explained by the relevant authorities by the time of publication.

Nation Media Group Uganda operates several major media brands, including NTV Uganda, Spark TV, The EastAfrican, Nation Courier, KFM, Dembe FM, Ennyanda, and the Daily Monitor, making it one of Uganda’s largest multimedia organizations.

Further updates are expected as more information becomes available from both the media house and government authorities.
