Former UPDF Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lt. Gen. Peter Elwelu has been arrested by security forces in Soroti City this evening.
Elwelu had been wanted by security agencies over alleged involvement in subversive activities and suspected plans to destabilise the Teso region. The development follows the recent recovery of 15 guns, military fatigues and two pickup trucks reportedly linked to him.
Security sources indicate that Elwelu is expected to face charges and be prosecuted in courts of law. More details to follow.
