DNA test results released this afternoon at Naguru Police Headquarters have confirmed that only four out of 25 individuals who claimed to be children of the late Kadongo Kamu icon Paul Job Kafeero are his biological offspring.
The long-awaited forensic findings were presented by officials from the Police Forensic Directorate and the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory in the presence of Local Gov’t Minister Balaam Barugahara.
The exercise was overseen by the Director of Police Forensics, Andrew Mubiru, and the Director of the Government Analytical Laboratory, Kepher Kuchana Kateu, who supervised the scientific verification process aimed at resolving years of uncertainty surrounding paternity claims linked to the celebrated musician.
According to the DNA results, the four individuals confirmed as biological children of the late Kafeero are Kafeero Bendicto, Kafeero Simon Peter, Kafeero Thomas, and Nagawa Elizabeth.
The forensic exercise was initiated following longstanding claims by numerous individuals who had, over the years, asserted that they were descendants of the renowned singer and songwriter. The verification process sought to establish the truth through scientific evidence and provide clarity to all parties involved.
Speaking during the release of the results, officials emphasized the importance of forensic science in resolving family and inheritance disputes, noting that DNA testing remains the most reliable method for determining biological relationships.
The outcome brings closure to a matter that has generated public interest for years, given Kafeero’s enduring legacy in Uganda’s music industry.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest Kadongo Kamu musicians of all time, Paul Kafeero left an indelible mark on Uganda’s cultural landscape through his timeless songs and storytelling talent. His music continues to resonate with audiences decades after his passing.
The confirmation of his biological heirs is expected to bring greater clarity regarding family matters associated with the late musician’s estate and legacy.
Officials described the exercise as a significant step in ensuring transparency and resolving questions that had persisted for many years.
With the DNA results now officially released, attention is expected to shift toward preserving and celebrating Kafeero’s rich musical heritage, while the confirmed family members carry forward the legacy of one of Uganda’s most influential cultural icons.
